MISSION

To Foster Medical Imaging Research in Radiology: UCAIR provides infrastructure support for grant submittal and management to foster all aspects of research on medical imaging technology. This includes:
- Research to advance medical imaging technology, based upon applications of physics, mathematics, and engineering in the development and evaluation of improvements to medical imaging technology.
- Research into applications of existing as well as new technologies to answer specific medical questions.
To Support University-Wide Life Science Imaging: UCAIR provides imaging expertise to all departments within the university campus. This includes instrumentation as well as Physics and Radiology support for
- University projects in areas of high end human imaging (MRI, CT, SPECT, PET)
- The establishment, coordination and operation of similar high end small animal imaging facilities.
- Any imaging research when requested.
Education: UCAIR provides directed research and education for postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, fellows, residents, medical students, and undergraduate students from any interested academic department. UCAIR faculty organize seminars, symposia and teach graduate level medical imaging courses, which are cross-listed in Bioengineering and Electrical Engineering, and supervise postdoctoral fellows and graduate students from other-university departments, including Physics, Medical Informatics, Electrical Engineering, Bioengineering, and Computer Science. Fostering education for research fellows, residents and medical students is also promoted.
