Abstract
The theoretical information content, defined by Shannon, is
proposed as an objective measure of MR image quality. This
measure takes into account the CNR, scan resolution and the field
of view. It is used to derive an optimum in the tradeoff problem
between image resolution and CNR, and as a criterion to assess
the usefulness of high-resolution MR images. The result tells
that, for a given total acquistion time, an optimum value of of
resolution can be found.
