Dr Parker is a medical physicist, the Director of UCAIR, and a tenured Full Professor in the Department of Radiology (since 1997). He has 25 years of experience in the physics and mathematics of medical imaging and has been involved in Magnetic Resonance Imaging research for nearly 20 years. He holds degrees in Physics, and Medical Physics-and-Computing, and has memberships in Sigma Pi Sigma (National Physics Honor Society), Sigma Xi, the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM), the Society for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (SMRM), and the Society for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (SMRI), and is a Regular Fellow of the American Heart Association. Dr. Parker has a broad knowledge of medical physics in general and a specific knowledge of Magnetic Resonance Imaging in particular. He holds a number of patents and has authored more than 140 papers in peer-reviewed journals.
